“By simplifying the world around us to colour interaction through one form, these paintings change the narrative and create a calmer, more digestible immersive experience.”
I live and work on Dartmoor in Devon and I was taught to paint by my wife Catherine, thank you Catherine. That was ten years ago and since then I have been developing a painting idea, which focuses on the interaction of colours. I observe the way individual colours relate to each other, which I record using only one shape, a simple circle. I consider these two dimensional circles to be viewed very much as three dimensional forms, in the final paintings. I usually paint from things I see, but not always, on occasion choosing to create my own imagined interpretations.
I call this way of painting One Form.
Two examples of earlier work.
